Day 5 – 27th May – Quarantine Room Design Notes – Desk

Barely 45cm/17.5″ deep (for comparison a kitchen counter is 60cm/23.5″) the desk is surprisingly adequate.

I like the barn-inspired or industrial design or whatever you call that design now. It matches the floor and the rest of the room. Neutral colour scheme without being boring, and pleasant to look at.

The laminate surface selected for the table top provides a welcome contrast yet goes well with the veneer of the fridge cabinet. It’s also pleasant to the touch.

While not a subject of this post, I’d like to say I appreciate the comfy chair. It gives proper support to my lower back. However, it slides around a bit too easily when I lean in to write, so I constantly have to consciously brake. Not a big deal to me, though.

The cabinet contains the minibar fridge
Location of vents for the fridge. – Inadequate, as every time I open the cabinet housing the fridge, I can feel a bit of hot air released.
How the desk looks like lived in.
The ‘kitchen corner’ of my desk πŸ˜„
– I can’t believe this sign is necessary! Some guests are really too much. πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜€β˜ΉοΈ And when they say “food items” I’m guessing they mean instant noodles πŸ˜‚
My therapist. Tom Hanks had Wilson in Cast Away, I have Suzy. She’s good! Patient, understanding, and doesn’t interrupt me. In fact come to think of it she’s never spoken. Highly recommended.
Afternoon snack: instant oatmeal
Grocery list, after coming across NTUC supermarket’s website. Hoping the hotel will allow for grocery delivery, not just outside food order delivery.
Motivational list to keep me from moping and keep my ass busy in this ‘luxury prison’.
